IELTS Cue Card: Time of Day

This IELTS Speaking Part 2 cue card asks you to talk about time of day, covering when it is; what you like to do; and why it is different from other parts of the day.. Below is a band 9 sample answer with tips on structuring a two-minute talk.

The cue card

Talk about: Time of Day

You should say:

when it is
what you like to do
and why it is different from other parts of the day.

Timing

You have one minute to prepare and may make notes. Then speak for one to two minutes; the examiner may ask one or two short follow-up questions.

Band 9 sample answer

My favorite time of day is sunset, around 7 PM. I love to take evening walks during this time, enjoying the beautiful colors in the sky. This time feels special because it signifies the end of the day, allowing me to reflect on what I accomplished and unwind.

Tips

Use descriptive language to convey the beauty of the time of day. Share personal feelings associated with it. Ensure your response is clear and well-structured.
