This IELTS Speaking Part 2 cue card asks you to talk about travel, covering where you went; who you went with; how you got there; and explain why you enjoyed it.. Below is a band 9 sample answer with tips on structuring a two-minute talk.

The cue card

Talk about: Travel

You should say:

where you went
who you went with
how you got there
and explain why you enjoyed it.

Timing

You have one minute to prepare and may make notes. Then speak for one to two minutes; the examiner may ask one or two short follow-up questions.

Band 9 sample answer

I recently traveled to Paris with my family. We flew there and spent a week exploring the city. I enjoyed visiting iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. The rich culture, delicious food, and vibrant atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience.

Tips

Share specific experiences and emotions related to your travel. Use descriptive language to engage the examiner. Keep your response structured and focused.
