You should say:
You have one minute to prepare and may make notes. Then speak for one to two minutes; the examiner may ask one or two short follow-up questions.
I respect my former teacher, Mr. Smith. I had him for English class in high school, and he was always passionate about literature. He is supportive and encourages students to think critically. I respect him for his dedication to teaching and the positive impact he has on his students' lives.
