IELTS Cue Card: Daily Routine

This IELTS Speaking Part 2 cue card asks you to talk about daily routine, covering what time of day it is; what you do at that time; who you are usually with; and explain why you like it.. Below is a band 9 sample answer with tips on structuring a two-minute talk.

The cue card

Talk about: Daily Routine

You should say:

what time of day it is
what you do at that time
who you are usually with
and explain why you like it.

Timing

You have one minute to prepare and may make notes. Then speak for one to two minutes; the examiner may ask one or two short follow-up questions.

Band 9 sample answer

My favorite time of day is early morning, around 6 AM. At this time, I enjoy going for a jog in the nearby park. I often go alone, which gives me a chance to reflect and plan my day ahead. I love this time because the world is quiet, and I can appreciate the beauty of nature as the sun rises.

Tips

Describe your routine in detail to showcase your vocabulary. Use varied sentence structures to enhance fluency. Make sure to explain why this time is special to you.
